We are recruiting for two new positions on the FWSA executive committee: Communications Officer and Treasurer. Communications Officer

This key role provides an outlet for sharing member news, discussion, and promoting the Association and our schemes. You will work alongside another Communications Officer to share responsibility for our website and social media.

The central responsibilities for the Communications Officer are:

  • Overseeing blog content including finding contributors to write for the blog
  • Sourcing content
  • Updating the website
  • Updating our Twitter and Facebook pages regularly to engage members
  • Responding to comments on social media
  • Working closely with the other Communications Officer and Publicity Officer to provide cohesion in our outputs.

Knowledge and experience of using WordPress is essential. We are looking to develop the FWSA’s online presence in coming months/years, and would be looking for someone committed to producing new and exciting content to engage new members as we redesign the website.

Terms of office run for 3 years and it is expected that Executive members engage with the running of the FWSA through regular attendance at Executive and AGM meetings and regular contact with other Executive members.

Treasurer

The Treasurer plays a central role in the running and organising of the FWSA and in supporting the co-chairs to make decisions on the cost of the Association’s activities. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, organised and efficient researcher to gain experience as an Association executive.

The central responsibilities of the Treasurer are:

  • Recording and making payments
  • Maintaining the TSB Account
  • Managing subscriptions
  • Producing Treasurer reports for Executive Committee meetings and the Annual General Meeting
  • With the Association’s accountants prepare the FWSA’s Annual Accounts

Numeracy/accounting skills and experience would be welcomed. The person appointed will be begin the role immediately but will be supported until summer 2019 by the current Treasurer.
