The FWSA seeks to appoint a new Chair and Vice-chair from February 2019 and invites applications for these positions.

Chair

The Chair will lead the FWSA executive committee and oversee the running of the Association, with the support of the Vice-Chair. The Chair’s duties include chairing executive committee meetings and the annual general meeting, liaising with the exec about their roles, organising working/focus groups within the exec, building the Association’s networks and connections, assisting the fundraising officer and treasurer with income generation, and responding to external requests for information, e.g. from higher education bodies. While all members are welcome to apply, we particularly encourage mid-career and senior academics to apply for this position.

Vice-Chair

The Vice-Chair will work to support the Chair on the duties above as required, and may take responsibility for specific areas; the distribution of workload will be negotiable between the Chair and Vice-Chair once appointed. While all members are welcome to apply, we particularly encourage early career scholars to apply for this position.

Terms of appointments for both positions are three years, and appointees should be members of the Association at the time of taking up the position.

Application process and timescale

To apply for either position, please send a one-page mission statement outlining relevant skills/experience and your objectives for the role, along with a two page CV by 17th January 2019 to fwsachair@gmail.com. Please state in your application which position you are applying for and/or whether you wish to be considered for both.

Applications will be posted on the FWSA website and members will be invited by email to vote using an online election tool. Voting will be open for two weeks from 21st January to 3 February 2019. Results will be announced the week commencing 4thFebruary, followed by handover from the current Chair thereafter. The appointment of the Chair and Vice-Chair will be ratified at the next AGM in 2019 (details TBC).
